Localization Design + Matchmaking

Clients: D&AD (Global Advertising Awards) + Hakkasan Group

While marketing the awards call-for-entry for D&AD (global design and advertising), I detected that the official advertising campaign message was lost in translation, for the international creative community.

In order to communicate our message to the Japanese market, I approached celebrated designer Issay Kitagawa and Juri Tsurumi, and initiated the commission of a bespoke advert for the Japanese market. This resulted in a record number of Japanese entries and significantly increased exposure for the D&AD awards.

Following our successful collaboration, I introduced Kitagawa's work to the Hakkasan Group. I recognized a possible brand development/packaging design match for their Michelin-starred, dim sum teahouse, Yauatcha.  This introduction resulted in Issay's commission to design, print and produce a range of products for their London Soho restaurant.
