Regenerating Coral : Eco-Sculpting by Jason de Caires Taylor
The idea of using the ocean as an underwater gallery, to help nurture and regenerate the aquatic eco-system, is such a beautiful gesture. Through this project we see how art can have a restorative, healing effect, even in the natural world.

Mexico-based artist and ‘eco-sculptor’ Jason de Caires Taylor is helping to regenerate coral with cement sculptures that are placed underwater to provide floating organisms like sponges, starfish and tunicates a place to anchor and form coral (since the sea floor is too soft and sandy).
His work is eerie, but beautiful. See more photos and a hauntingly wonderful video here:  Artist’s Incredible Life-Like Underwater Sculptures Help Rebuild Coral (Video)
